Finally got the gv-usb2 capture dongle from Japan to work with my original C64.
It was saturating my USB hub, so I had to use different USB ports on the motherboard
to get the capture, microphone and camera to work at the same time!
Now with S-Video cable instead of Composite, the difference is jawdropping! You might also need to disable Aero to get 50 FPS and add deinterlacing to avoid artifacting when stuff is moving/scrolling.
